Fraser Valley REALTORS® Charitable Foundation Expands Bursary Program for At-Risk Youth with $56,000 in Funding for 2025
The Fraser Valley REALTORS® Charitable Foundation (FVRCF) is thrilled to announce the continuation and expansion of its bursary program for 2025, providing $56,000 in funding to support high school graduates facing challenges as they transition to post-secondary education. This year, the program will once again award $1,000 bursaries to one deserving student from each of the 56 public secondary schools and learning centers across Surrey, Langley, Abbotsford, Mission, and North Delta.
Now in its second year, the FVRCF’s bursary initiative has been instrumental in helping students overcome financial barriers that often stand in the way of their educational aspirations. By offering meaningful financial support, the foundation aims to empower at-risk youth to pursue higher education and career opportunities with confidence and determination.
“We are incredibly proud to continue this bursary program in 2025,” said John Barbisan, Chair of the Fraser Valley REALTORS® Charitable Foundation. “Last year, we saw firsthand how impactful this initiative was for young people in our community, and we’re excited to build on that success. Education is a powerful catalyst for change, and we remain committed to providing students with the resources they need to break through barriers and unlock their full potential.”
“The expansion of this bursary program is truly inspiring and will make a meaningful difference for students facing financial barriers,” said Gary Tymoschuk , Chair of the Surrey Board of Education. “By investing in our youth, the FVRCF is helping to create brighter futures and lasting opportunities.”
Dr. Nathan Ngieng, Deputy Superintendent of Schools at the Abbotsford School District said, “The FVRCF’s bursary provides opportunities for young people to pursue their passions in a post-secondary setting by removing some of the financial barriers. It provides hope and belief in a student to overcome significant life challenges and in making a positive difference in their community through achieving their life and career goals.”
The FVRCF would like to express its heartfelt thanks to the local REALTORS® and members of the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board (FVREB) whose continued generosity has made the bursary program possible.
